LBx Africa, known for acclaimed films like "Watu Wote" and "Softie", announces the theatrical release of 'Beneath The Tides' in Kenyan cinemas on the week of March 22nd 2024. This collection of five short films explores critical themes in African society. 

Directed and produced by talent from Kenya and Uganda, 'Beneath the Tides' delves into family and institutional complexities, offering poignant glimpses into the human experience. From the imaginative journey of a young boy in "Baba" to the moving reconciliation in "Ziwa," each film reflects the wisdom and compassion of East Africa's filmmakers. The 5 short films under the 'Beneath the Tides' Collection are:
Baba 
Directed by Mbithi Masya and Produced by Bramwel Iro BABA is a six-year-old boy who struggles to understand the world around him. With his unusual ability he tries to escape his harsh reality. Mawimbi 
Directed by Mark Wambui, Produced by Ivy Kiru, Written by Ian Wanjohi After his mother's funeral, Kazungu joins his father on a fishing trip during which their strained relationship plays out. Inheritance
Directed by Barbara Minishi, Produced by Ivy Kiru, Written by Ngwatilo Mawiyoo A chance meeting between an alienated young woman and the village outlier leads to an extraordinary meeting with her dead grandfather. Stero
Directed Tevin Kimathi, Produced by Juliana Kabua, Written by Millan Tarus A Kung Fu prodigy navigates school with his imaginary Sensei following one simple rule: What would Bruce Lee do? Ziwa
Directed by Samuel Tebandeke, Produced by Juliana Kabua Amina wants to reconcile with her dying husband. When his younger former lover arrives to save him and get back together with Manda, Amina plans to stop the woman in her tracks.
The collection boasts an impressive cast, including Mbeki Mwalimu and Faith Kibathi in 'Baba,' Malik Lemuel and Hillary Namanje in 'Mawimbi,' Lucarelli Onyango and Justin Mirichii in 'Stero,' and Lydia Gitachu and Chris Kamau in 'Ziwa.'
These films have received international acclaim, having premiered at prestigious festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada, the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands, Festival International du Film Panafricain (FIFP) in France, FESPACO in Burkina Faso, and the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in Tanzania.
