Facebook Meta company has officially launched their new product 'Threads, an Instagram app'. Thread is a text-based application designed to rival twitter.  The app was officially launched on Wednesday and it went live on Apple and Android application stores in 100 countries at 2300GMT; but its release in Europe had been delayed over data privacy concerns.
According to its description on app store before release, Threads will enable users to connect directly with their favorite creators and others who love the same thing or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.
"Let's do this, welcome to thread." Wrote Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his first post in this new social media platform.
This comes a few days after Elon Musk, twitter's current owner announced that the platform was planning to limit the number of tweets that could be read per day with someone who has not paid for subscription would be limited to 1000 tweets per day.
Elon Musk's bitter rival Mark Zuckerberg has also announced that over 10 million people had signed up on Threads within the first seven hours of its launch. He later on said the number is at 30 million as at Thursday night.
