Dusty is about 10 years old and was rescued from an unfit family who kept him locked in a small kennel for most of his life. This inhumane treatment made him reactive to other animals and some people. Despite his challenging past, Dusty is a sweet boy who loves to play and walk off-leash—something he never experienced with his previous family.
His former family was afraid of him and barely fed him, which led to severe mange and significant weight loss when he came to us. Thankfully, Dusty has now gained weight and is being socialized with animals, especially dogs, and people through counter-conditioning.
Dusty would do best as an only pet and can thrive as both an indoor and outdoor dog. Because of his past, we are looking for a family willing to share their indoor space with him—a patient family with children over 16 years old and an experienced home familiar with large breeds.
He is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be sterilized once he is fit enough. Dusty would love a space where he can practice his natural behaviors. He is not suitable to be used as a working dog or for security reasons but would make a wonderful family pet. Dusty is ready to find his forever home!
